In a meeting on Monday, February 12, 2018, the Owensboro Utility Commission accepted the resignation of OMU General Manager Terry Naulty. The Commission also named Kevin Frizzell, PE to serve as interim General Manager. Frizzell joined OMU in 1990 as Technical Services Manager and was named Director of Power Production in 2008. Boil Water Notice lifted for OMU and water district customers

At 11:30 today, Saturday, December 2, the Boil Water Notice was lifted for OMU customers, and customers of the three water districts serving the residents of Daviess County including Whitesville water. Water System Update

Around 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, OMU experienced a failure of a 20-inch water main that provides treated water to the OMU water distribution system. The main break resulted in part of the OMU water distribution system draining and causing loss of pressure at some points in the OMU system.  OMU personnel were able to quickly isolate the leak from the distribution system and stabilize system water pressure.  The…

OMU crews return after assisting post Hurricane Irma

OMU is proud to welcome home six of its line technicians. The six were part of restoration efforts in Florida following Hurricane Irma. Thank you! Leon Bratcher, Greg Richardson, Rod Daugherty, Lee Broadley, Sean Warren and Daniel Miller. The six left on Monday after Irma struck Florida, working with Gainesville Municipal Utilities to restore power to affected customers. While there, the crews worked alongside Henderson Municipal employees.

Routine flushing of OMU water system to begin October 3

Owensboro Municipal Utilities’ crews will be conducting the utility’s semi-annual water line flush for city customers starting October 3. The flushing is expected to take approximately one week. Crews will be working between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. each of those days and will begin on the northeast end of the city and work south and west. OMU is proud to join over 2,000 public utilities nationwide in celebrating our customer-owners. OMU will celebrate Public Power Month in a number of ways. Power Run/Walk OMU’s 10th Annual 5K Power Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, October 28. This annual event is open to both runners and walkers, featuring a flat/fast course.
