It’s time to deck the halls, string the lights and spread some holiday cheer! Owensboro Municipal Utilities (OMU) is once again inviting the community to help make the season merry and bright with its annual Holiday Lighting Contest.
Each year, Owensboro residents transform their homes and yards into festive displays of holiday spirit, bringing joy to neighbors and visitors alike. From classic white lights and colorful decorations to dazzling displays that dance to the music, the Holiday Lighting Contest celebrates the creativity and effort that make our community shine a little brighter during the holiday season.
Have a display you’re especially proud of? Or know a neighbor whose holiday decorations deserve a little extra recognition? We want to hear from you! Residents are encouraged to nominate their own homes or recognize a festive neighbor who goes above and beyond to spread holiday cheer.
Entries will be judged on originality, use of lighting, color, design and movement.
And there’s more than just holiday bragging rights on the line! The winning display will receive:
- A $250 OMU gift certificate
- A lighted yard sign recognizing the winning home
- Special recognition from the Owensboro City Commission and Owensboro Utility Commission
The Holiday Lighting Contest is open to OMU customers within Owensboro city limits. Nominations must be submitted by Sunday, December 6.
