The OMU Holiday Lighting Contest recognizes residents in our community who go the extra mile to make the holiday season a little brighter.
Winners earn bragging rights, an illuminated sign, and a $250 gift certificate. In addition, the 2024 winners were honored by the OMU Utility Commission during today’s meeting. Entries are judged on originality, use of lighting, and creativity.
OMU has held the annual lighting contest for 20 years. Our secret panel of judges had difficulty selecting a winner this year, as our community completely understood the assignment. There are so many beautiful displays.
However, the display at 1949 Wyandotte Avenue stood out. Taylor and Codey Shock put a lot of time and planning into their entry and their hard work paid off. The centerpiece is a large Santa greeting passers-by. The Shocks carefully and precisely placed lighting on the roof of their home and incorporated movement with the arches outlining their front yard.
Congratulations to Taylor and Codey!
