At Owensboro Municipal Utilities our priority is the safety of our community and our employees. As consumers, people don’t often think about the potential hazards electricity and electrical equipment may pose. However, electricity can present serious danger and must be considered with care and caution. Knowing and understanding these risks is key to being safe.
OMU offers a unique program called Powertown, for people of all ages to learn about and discuss electric safety. Powertown is a portable, traveling presentation that provides an overview of how power reaches your home, what to do in emergencies, how to avoid electrical hazards, and ways you can prevent accidents or injury. For schools, Powertown is an effective way to teach children about hazards associated with electricity.
The Powertown presentation is delivered by knowledgeable, well- trained members of our electrical delivery team and provides an interactive opportunity to learn more about the electrical system. A typical presentation lasts 30-45 minutes.
OMU is proud to bring this free presentation to schools, churches, businesses, and other organizations throughout our area. If you are interested in hosting a Powertown presentation, please complete the form below or call us at 270-926-3200.
