- Customer Owned Service Line – This line runs from the meter into your home and is owned and maintained by the property-owner.
top - Meter Setting – This water meter is positioned between the customer-owned service line and the OMU-owned service line. The meter is read monthly to determine water usage for each customer. It is maintained by OMU.
top - OMU Owned Service Line – This water line runs from the meter to a water main.
top - OMU Secondary Main – This main is a smaller main connected to a larger primary main. These, are, of course maintained by OMU. These secondary mains typically deliver water to locations (homes and businesses) along smaller streets.
top - OMU Primary Main – These are larger mains used to distribute water throughout the OMU system.
top - Flexible Main Connectors – These connectors, some of which are lead, are used to connect smaller water mains to larger ones. Those containing lead are being systematically replaced in the OMU system.
top - Service Line Connectors – These connectors, some of which are lead, are used to connect water mains to galvanized service lines. Those containing lead are being systematically replaced in the OMU system.
top - Short Service Line Connectors – These connectors, some of which are lead, run from the water main directly to a meter setting. Those containing lead are being systematically replaced in the OMU system.
top - Cast Iron Pipe Lead Joints – Cast iron joints are used to connect lines within the OMU system. Some cast iron lead joints do contain lead on their outer surface, which is not in contact with the water supplied in our community. Lead is exterior to the joint and does not come into contact with water moving through our system.
