Water service restored; boil water order still in effect

Water was restored to all customers last night. Flushing of the system was completed at approximately midnight, followed by water quality testing. Samples require 18 hours of incubation. After a review of these results and approval of the State Division of Water, we anticipate lifting the boil water order on Thursday. Please watch for updates.
Please note the boil water order is in effect for all OMU, Southeast, East and West districts as well as Whitesville Water Works. The order applies to water intended for drinking or food preparation (including dishwashing) only. Customers can shower, bathe and wash clothes without boiling the water.
Some customers may notice air in their water lines or cloudiness. Simply allow the faucet to run until trapped air is released and the water runs clear.
Crews continue to work in the area of the leak and therefore Fourth Street near Daviess County Middle School will remain closed. For your safety as well as OMU crews and contractors, please avoid that area.
